In 2010, Zulema Hechavarría Blanco created, with great success, ZuleMax, her first orchestra, a group of 12 talented women from different corners of Europe. Each of these musicians had just graduated from the prestigious jazz departments of conservatories in Antwerp, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Rotterdam. Zulema’s vision was clear: to form a female salsa orchestra that combined technique, energy and passion for the most authentic Latin rhythms.
Since its creation, ZuleMax has stood out on various European stages and has taken its music to renowned festivals such as Montreux Festival in Switzerland. The band had a notable impact on international radio stations, where their music has been widely broadcast in countries such as the United States, Colombia, Singapore, Spain, Venezuela, Ecuador, and many more. This global exposure had helped ZuleMax become known not only as one of the best female salsa orchestras in Europe but also as an inspiration for the creation of new female bands.
