Biography
Jolien Van De Sande is a saxophone player and interdisciplinary maker based in Brussels. She creates soft experiences in a world that turns in haste on the border of music, theater and audio work. Jolien is artistic director and house artist of 'Het Fluisterhuis, a music theater company that creates adventurous work, tailored to the youngest audience. Together with the other members of Saxcollectief Nordsoen, a newly found saxophone collective, Jolien creates interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary work in and out of the concert hall. In '24-'25 and '25-'26, Jolien will be ‘Gangmaker’ at concert house De Bijloke in Gent. As a guest teacher, Jolien is working for the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, where she coaches yearly emerging artists and art educators during the creation of a participatory project in a socio-artistic or art educational setting. Jolien worked for various organizations and ensembles such as Hetpaleis, Zonzo Compagnie, Muziektheater Transparant/DESCHONECOMPANIE, Musica, impulscentrum voor muziek, Mambo Queens. In '25-'26 she will première a first solo project that reconnects with the work of female musician-poets
in the 12th and 13th century. |
